Biography

The man behind the drums on the first five Fiasko albums, Mika Kallio won a fancy comb in a lottery at the Kuopio market place in 1999. He has studied at the Joensuu Conservatory (1993-1996) and Sibelius Academy (with Jukkis Uotila) from where he received his master's degree in December 2002. He is currently teaching at Sibelius Academy, The Kuopio Conservatory and Pop & Jazz Conservatory in Helsinki.

He has rapidly created a highly personal touch on the instrument and thus worked in Finland, Europe, USA and China with Tomasz Stanko, UMO Jazz Orchestra, Samuli Mikkonen Trio, Gnomus, Karikko, Gourmet, Juhani Aaltonen, Nuijamiehet, Mr Fonebone, Pekka Pohjola, Sakari Kukko, Anssi Nykänen, Make Lievonen and Ingrid Jensen.
