December 8, 2007 - SKYLINE MP3'S

Editor's note: While doing some googling I just noticed that various Fiasko releases (including Gnomus' latest) are available at Russia-based www.mp3skyline.com and only for $1.00! Ain't that cheap? Well, the problem is that the musicians of Gnomus or Fiasko Records are never going to see any of that money (but someone else will, who?). The only authorized resellers of Fiasko MP3's are Levyvirasto (DRM-free) and CD Baby's Digital Distribution Partners. So, if you can't put out $10 or 10€ for authorized MP3 albums, here are some lesser evil alternatives:

  • Go to a local library, borrow the CD and rip it for yourself. If they don't have it, ask them to buy it.
  • Ask your friend to make a copy.
  • Try to search and download it for free from the internet (torrent trackers etc).

The point is that although the musicians aren't making money out of these options either (unless the library buys the CD), at least the shady businesses such as MP3Skyline.com aren't getting any richer selling unauthorized products.
